A New Kind of Local News Is Coming to the Hi-Desert

HiDesertNEWS is building a modern local news platform for the Morongo Basin, focused on the information people actually need throughout the day.

Our coverage will include local breaking news, weather, traffic conditions, gas prices, utility outages, public safety updates, community events, lost and found pets, and stories submitted by people throughout the Hi-Desert.

The goal is simple: make important local information easier to find, faster to understand, and available in one place.

Rather than relying only on traditional articles, HiDesertNEWS is being built around short video reports, live updates, community submissions, and automated local information systems. Reports will also be shared across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms so residents can receive updates wherever they already spend their time.

Built for the Morongo Basin

HiDesertNEWS will focus on communities throughout the Morongo Basin, including Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, Twentynine Palms, Morongo Valley, Landers, Pioneertown, Johnson Valley, Wonder Valley, and the surrounding desert communities.

We are building tools to help residents quickly find information about:

• Weather alerts and forecasts
• Traffic delays and road closures
• Gas prices
• Power, water, internet, and utility outages
• Missing and found pets
• Community events
• School and public agency updates
• Local businesses and organizations
• Photos, videos, and reports submitted by residents

Community-Powered Local Coverage

Some of the most important local stories begin with the people who are already there.

HiDesertNEWS will allow residents to submit photos, videos, news tips, event information, missing-pet notices, and other community updates. Verified contributors and local field reporters will eventually be able to build profiles and receive credit for their work.

Our goal is to create a trusted local network that gives people throughout the Hi-Desert a way to share what is happening in their own communities.

No endless searching. No digging through dozens of unrelated posts. Just useful local information, clearly presented and regularly updated.
